A brief, strong storm that blew through the Green prompted an emergency response on White Road in Little Silver Thursday afternoon. Though fire officials were not immediately available for comment, a neighbor said it appeared that lightning sheared a tree, above, and struck nearby wires, causing a transformer on White to explode, sending debris up to fifty yards away. No injuries were reported, and the road was reopened after a brief shutdown. (Photos courtesy of Eric Flaherty; click to enlarge)
