BUSY WEEK FOR MIDDLETOWN COPS

• On June 29, 2011 at approximately 11:15 am Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was on patrol in the area of Highway 36 when he stopped a vehicle for having an invalid inspection sticker. Officer Hirschbein approached the driver and asked him for his driving credentials. The driver provided the officer with a fake name.

Officer Hirschbein conducted an investigation which resulted in the identification of the driver as Allen Stenquist, age 37, from Leonardville Road in Belford, NJ. Stenquist was placed under arrest and was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Hindering Apprehension and Driving While Revoked. He was processed and released pending a court date.

• On June 29, 2011 at approximately 2:20 am police responded to the area of Scott Road in reference to a large fight taking place.  Upon arrival in the area officers observed numerous people in the street as well as subjects fleeing the scene.

Officers Donald Coates, Anthony Bumbico, David Crenshaw, and Lawrence Seymour conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrests of Joseph Meehan, age 18, from Lohsen Avenue in Middletown,NJ, being arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Underage Consumption of Alcohol; Daniel Hudson, age 19, from Clinton Avenue in Belford, NJ, being arrested for Obstructing the Administration of Law; William Chirichello, age 20, Sixth Street in Jackson, NJ, being arrested for Obstructing the Administration of Law, Underage Possession of Alcohol and Disorderly Conduct; and a 16 year old male juvenile from Belford, NJ, being arrested for Underage Possession of Alcohol and Obstructing the Administration of Law.

All subjects were released pending a court date.

• On July 1, 2011 at approximately 1:10 am Patrolman John Mele responded to the area of Highway 35 and Pine Street in reference to a report of an erratic driver. Officer Mele located the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop. He approached the driver, identified as Daniel Kammerer, age 25, from Society Hill Way in Tinton Falls, NJ, at which point he detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Patrolman Mele conducted an investigation which resulted in Kammerer being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with the additional offenses of Reckless Driving, Failing to Provide Proof of Insurance and Delaying Traffic. He was released pending a court date.

• On July 1, 2011 at approximately 6:10 pm Patrolman Lisa Vreeland responded to the R&S Auto Parts Store on Highway 35 in reference to a report of theft by an employee. Upon arrival Officer Vreeland was informed by store security that the manager, identified as Alex Gomez, age 24, from Anthony Avenue in Toms River, NJ, had stolen approximately $2040.00 from the store since April of 2011. Security advised the officer that Gomez would make fraudulent payouts and refunds and then keep the money.

Gomez was placed under arrest and was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Theft. He was held on $5,000.00 bail with a 10% option set by Judge Richard Thompson.

• On July 1, 2011 at approximately 5:35 pm Patrolman Frank Mazza was on patrol in the area of the Henry Hudson Trail when he observed several juveniles sitting on a platform along the trail. The officer approached the group at which point he observed one of the juveniles throw a bag into the weeds.

Officer Mazza retrieved the bag and conducted an investigation which resulted in 16 male juvenile from Middletown being arrested for Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Underage Possession of Alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released to parents pending a court date.

• On July 1, 2011 at approximately 8:10 pm Patrolman Frank Mazza was conducting a foot patrol on Ideal Beach when he observed a group of people sitting on a blanket. The officer continued to walk closer to the group at which point he detected a strong odor of burnt Marijuana coming from the area.

Officer Mazza conducted an investigation which resulted in Brandon Nelson, age 18, from Elm Street in Linden, NJ, being arrested for Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On July 1, 2011 at approximately 9:05 pm Patrolman Brian Dilworth and Patrolman Anthony Dellatacoma responded to the area of Ocean Avenue in reference to a report of a disorderly subject. The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in the subject, identified as Raymond Haupt, age 39, from Asbury Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, being arrested for Unlawful Possession of Prescription Legend Drugs and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after the officers determined Haupt was in possession of Ambien and Desryl without a valid prescription.

Haupt was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On July 2, 2011 at approximately 1:15 pm Patrolman Jason Caruso responded to the Sears Store in reference to a report of a Shoplifting. Upon arrival the officer was advised by security that they had observed a woman, identified as Feng Zeng, age 48, from Rothbard Road in Hazlet, NJ, conceal items in a baby stroller and attempt to leave the store without paying for the merchandise.

Officer Caruso conducted an investigation which resulted in Zeng being arrested for Shoplifting. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date.

• On July 2, 2011 at approximately 2:15 am Patrolman Ralph Flannigan was on patrol in the area of Sycamore Avenue when he observed a vehicle being operated on the wrong side of the roadway with severe damage on the passenger side of the vehicle. Officer Flannigan stopped the vehicle and conducted an investigation. He determined the driver had struck parked cars along Sycamore Avenue.

Officer Flannigan continued his investigation which resulted in the driver, identified as Michael Tipan, age 22, from Morningside Avenue in Middletown, NJ, being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Report an Accident, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Reckless Driving.  He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On July 2, 2011 at approximately 9:50 pm Patrolman Michael Reuter was on patrol in the area of Highway 36 when he stopped a vehicle for being operated with tinted windows. Officer Reuter approached the vehicle and detected a strong odor of raw Marijuana coming from the car. The officer conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of both occupants of the vehicle.

The passenger, identified as Latoya Lesane, age 25, from Presidential Path in Patterson, NJ, was arrested for Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana. The officer also determined there was an outstanding Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Elmwood Park Municipal Court for her arrest. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released after posting $282.00 bail.

The driver, identified as Jonathan Hernandez, age 24, from East 22nd Street in Patterson, NJ, was arrested for Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana, and Hindering Apprehension. Hernandez had provided the officer with a fake name during the motor vehicle stop.  Officer Reuter determined there was also two Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Patterson Municipal Court for his arrest. He was being held on $2,755.00 bail with no 10% option.

• On July 2, 2011 at approximately 10:30pm police responded to a fight involving a subject armed with a pry bar at the St. Mary’s fair. Detective William Strohkirch, Corporal Gerarld Weimer and Patrolman Antonio Ciccone conducted an investigation which resulted in Michael Vanalstyne, age 26, from Coffey Lane in Leonardo, NJ, being arrested for Disorderly Conduct, a 15 year old male juvenile from Leonardo, NJ, being arrested for Underage Possession of Alcohol and a 16 year old male juvenile from Leonardo, NJ, being arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

All subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.

• On July 3, 2011 at approximately 2:50 am Corporal Douglas Wiatrak was on patrol in the area of Highway 35 when he stopped a vehicle for failing to stay within its lane of travel. The officer approached the driver, identified as Lucy Pavlovsky, age 23, from Observer Highway in Hoboken, NJ, and detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath.

Officer Wiatrak conducted an investigation which resulted in Pavlovsky being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. She was transported to police headquarters where she was charged with the additional offenses of Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lanes. She was processed and released pending a court date.

• On July 4, 2011 at approximately 3:15 am Patrolman Richard Fulham was on patrol in the area of Highway 36 near the former Wild Scallion restaurant when he observed three suspicious subjects sitting behind a trailer in the parking lot of the vacant building. He approached the subjects at which point one of them, identified as Richard Castles Jr., age 40, from Lloyd road in Aberdeen, NJ, started to run from the area. Officer Fulham pursued him on foot and was able to catch him in the parking lot of the Leonardo Motel.

Officer Fulham conducted an investigation which resulted in the officer locating an outstanding Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Hazlet Township Municipal court for Castles arrest. The officer conducted a search incident to the arrest at which point Castles tried to swallow an Oxycodone pill that he had in his possession.

Castles was transported to police headquarters for processing and was charged with Obstructing the Administration of Law, Tampering with Evidence, Hindering Apprehension, Being Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Oxycodone and Contempt of Court. He was held on bail.

• The Middletown Police report the arrest of the following subjects for other offenses:

Jamie Ferlanti, age 37, from Wallace Road in Middletown, NJ, arrested on June 29, 2011 by Patrolman Thomas Russo on a Contempt of Court warrant. She was released after posting $89.00 bail.

Adam Huff, age 22, from Campbell Avenue in Belford, NJ, arrested on June 29, 2011 by Thomas Russo on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Old Bridge Municipal Court. He was released after posting $200.00 bail.

Cliff Carpenella Jr, age 21, from Central Avenue in Highlands, NJ, arrested on June 29, 2011 by Patrolman Thomas Russo on a Contempt of Court warrant. He was released after posting $1,000.00 bail.

Anthony Zitzman, age 36, from Orchard Street in Keansburg, NJ, arrested on June 29, 2011 by Patrolman Keith Hirschbein on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the North Arlington Municipal Court. He was released on his own recognizance.

Alyxandra Volpe, age 43, from Sylvia Terrace in Middletown, NJ, arrested on June 29, 2011 by Patrolman Thomas Russo on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Sayreville Municipal Court. She was released after posting $200.00 bail.

Randy Spencer, age 21, from Squirrel Road in Neptune, NJ, arrested on June 29, 2011 by Patrolman Richard Fulham on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was released after posting $500.00 bail.

Wayne Carhart, age 32, from Main Street in Port Monmouth, NJ, arrested on June 29, 2011 by Patrolman Brian Dilworth and Patrolman Anthony Dellatacoma for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released pending a court date.

Ryan Kelty, age 21, from Bray Avenue in Port Monmouth, NJ, arrested on June 29, 2011 by Patrolman Stephen Greenwood on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Union Beach Municipal Court. He was released after posting $164.00 bail.

Kristy Leight, age 29, from Ocean Avenue in Middletown, NJ, arrested on June 30, 2011 by Patrolman Ian May on two Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Middletown and Sea Bright Municipal Court. She was released after posting bail.

Tyler Lippi, age 18, from Walling Avenue in Belford, NJ, arrested on June 30, 2011 by Patrolman Ryan Riffert on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was released after posting $50.00 bail.

Tonya Soliz, age 39, from Highway 37 in Toms River, NJ, arrested on June 30, 2011 by Patrolman Jason Caruso on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was held on $1,000.00 bail.

Peter Mullen, age 21, from Tallwood Lane in Lincroft, NJ, arrested by Patrolman Thomas Russo for three counts of Aggravated Assault by Auto and Driving While Intoxicated as a result of an investigation into an accident that occurred on May 11, 2011. He was released on bail pending a court date.

Daniel Supienski, age 22, from Ocean Avenue in Middletown, NJ, arrested on June 30, 2011 by Patrolman Richard Fulham on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Tinton Falls Municipal Court. He was held on $533.00 bail.

David Matheny, age 49, from Sea Side Avenue in Keansburg, NJ, arrested on July 1, 2011 by Patrolman Keith Hirschbein on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was held on bail.

Edward McNally, age 25, from Thompson Avenue in Middletown, NJ, arrested on July 1, 2011 by Patrolman John Soltysik on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was released after posting $1,000.00 bail.

Timothy Dale, age 19, from 6th Street in Union Beach, NJ, arrested on July 1, 2011 by Sgt. Sean Sweeney on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was released after posting $500.00 bail.

William Garby, age 24, from Brotherton Avenue in Locust, NJ, arrested on July 2, 2011 by Corporal Gerald Weimer on two Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Atlantic Highlands and Tinton Falls Municipal Courts. He was held on bail.

Cassandra Lisk, age 21, from Magnolia Avenue in Hazlet, NJ, arrested on July 3, 2011 by Patrolman John Soltysik on a Violation of Probation warrant issued by the Monmouth County Superior Court. She was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold, NJ.

David Rakowski, age 31, from Karyn Terracein Middletown, NJ, arrested on July 3, 2011 by Patrolman John Soltysik on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Neptune Municipal Court. He was released after posting $190.00 bail.

Sammy Nabhan, age 27, from Wilbur Street in Staten Island, NY, arrested on July 3, 2011 by Patrolman John Soltysik on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Belmar Municipal Court. He was held on $450.00 bail.

On July 1, 2011 Patrolman Greg Buhowski arrested a 17 year old female from Nautilus Drive in Leonardo, NJ, on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was released after posting $1,000.00 bail.

On July 2, 2011 Patrolman Michael Reuter arrested a 17 year old male from McCormick Place in Middletown, NJ, on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was released after posting $100.00 bail.

On July 3, 2011 Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia arrested a 15 year old male juvenile from Dakota Avenue in Middletown, NJ, for Criminal Mischief. He was processed and released to his mother pending a court date.
