A dead-quiet race for two Red Bank council seats enters the home stretch Wednesday night as two Republican challengers face off against the incumbents from the all-Democrat governing body Wednesday night.
Meantime, Tuesday is the last day to register as a voter in the November 8 general election.
Former Councilwoman Grace Cangemi has teamed up with last year’s unsuccessful candidate Joe Mizzi in a bid to unseat Juanita Lewis and Ed Zipprich who defeated Cangemi and running mate John Tyler by a substantial margin in 2008.
The four will meet under the aegis of the Westside Community Group, which organizes the annual candidate’s debate, scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the River Street Commons. (Park on the street the lot is for residents of the senior housing complex and their guests and use the Catherine Street entrance.)
The event, moderated by WCG president Amy Goldsmith, includes opening and closing statements by the candidates as well as questions from the audience. For more information, call Goldsmith at 732-747-0306 or Joyce Williams at 732-741-3715.
For information about registering to vote, visit the state Department of State here. And if you’re not sure if you’re registered, there’s an online lookup.
