What’s up with the Quay in Sea Bright?
The the long-vacant catering hall and marina changed hands recently, but any plans to alter the property appear to be under wraps at present.
According to newly filed property records, a limited liability company controlled by a George Phillip Smith of Staten Island paid $2.8 million to acquire the long-vacant catering hall and marina out of receivership in late July. Smith could not be reached for comment about his plans for the site.
It was not immediately clear if the Quay’s liquor license was included in the sale. No application to transfer the license to a new owner has yet been made, a borough official tells redbankgreen. State officials had previously seized the license for nonpayment of taxes, according to a notice by the Division of Taxation.
The 1.1-acre site, with 150 feet of frontage on Ocean Avenue, features a 10,000-square-foot restaurant and catering facility with seating for 200, according to a real estate sale listing.
