FIGHTING A PERSISTENT BLAZE

Scenes from the fire that engulfed an 1892 mansion on Carriage House Lane in Little Silver Saturday.

Firefighters were called out at 1:16 p.m. after holiday candles set out in the kitchen set window curtains ablaze. The resulting inferno proved a tough match.

As of 5 p.m., there was “still a little bit of fire going,” but the blaze was under control, police Chief Dan Shaffery tells redbankgreen.
