ASSAULT ON PARK RANGER ALLEGED

call-in-the-authorities• Police arrested a man who struck a Monmouth County Park Ranger with his vehicle. Police say Anthony Powell, age 46, from Oak Street in Morganville, NJ, struck Ranger William Stevenson III, while the ranger was conducting an investigation for having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and playing a radio too loud.

Police say Ranger Stevenson was attempting to obtain identification from Powell who then entered his vehicle and struck the ranger while trying to flee the area. The description of PowellÂ’s vehicle was then provided to surrounding police agencies and was stopped on Port Monmouth Road by the Keansburg Police Department.

Corporal Patricia Colangelo conducted the investigation which resulted in Powell being charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Assault by Auto. He was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold, NJ, on $100,000.00 bail with no 10% option set by Judge Richard Thompson.

• Police arrested a man working as a self-employed exterminator for theft of jewelry valued at over $10,000 from a Beaman Boulevard residence.

On January 4, 2012 Detective Adam Finck arrested Ryan Jones, age 35, from East Mount Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, for Theft by Unlawful Taking and Receiving Stolen Property. Police say Jones was alone in the victimÂ’s residence performing fumigation services when he stole the jewelry. He was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold, NJ, on $20,000.00 bail set by Judge Richard Thompson.

• Kathryn Barcelo, age 19, from Seaside Place in Keansburg, NJ, arrested on January 3, 2012 by Patrolman Keith Hirschbein for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana. She was released pending a court date.

• Tracy Moore, age 40, from O’Hagen Terrace in Neptune, NJ, arrested on January 3, 2012 by Patrolman Darrin Simon on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Sayreville Municipal Court. She was released after posting $139.00 bail.

• Guillermo Valdez, age 26, from Washington Avenue in Long Branch, NJ, arrested on January 4, 2012 by Patrolman James Beirne for Harassment. He was released pending a court date.

• Anthony Colacino, age 18, from Crystal Court in Middletown, NJ, arrested on January 4, 2012 by Patrolman Darrin Simon for Obtaining Prescription Medication by Fraud and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released pending a court date.

• Anthany Grant, age 25, from Main Street in Port Monmouth, NJ, arrested on January 5, 2012 by Patrolman Brian Dilworth on a Non-Support warrant issued by the Monmouth County Superior Court. He was released after posting $383.16 bail.

• Sarah Sambucini, age 36, from Chestnut Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, arrested on January 5, 2012 by Patrolman Brian McGrogan for Driving While Intoxicated. She was released pending a court date.

• Stefani Barak, age 26, from Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright, NJ, arrested on January 5, 2012 by Patrolman Ian May on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Asbury Park Municipal Court. She was released after posting $250.00 bail.

• Kimberly Kowall, age 42, from Creek Road in Port Monmouth, NJ, arrested on January 5, 2012 by Corporal Patricia Colangelo on three Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was released after posting $3,350.00 bail.

• Cheryl Fox, age 36, from Park Avenue in Union Beach, NJ, arrested on January 5, 2012 by Corporal Daniel Murdoch for Shoplifting from the Sears Store. She was released pending a court date.

• George Geiger, age 53, from West Shore Avenue in Keansburg, NJ, arrested on January 5, 2012 by Patrolman Darrin Simon on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Keyport Municipal Court. He was transferred to the Keyport Police Department pending bail.

• Jennifer Reyes, age 30, from Creek Road in Brick, NJ, arrested on January 5, 2012 by Corporal Daniel Murdoch on Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Lakewood, Ridgefield and Fort Lee Municipal Courts. She was released after posting $4,066.00 bail.

• Jason Palamara, age 26, from West Jersey Street in Elizabeth, NJ, arrested on January 5, 2012 by Patrolman Christian Clark on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was released after posting $657.00 bail.

• Jonathan McCullough, age 32, from New Monmouth Road in Middletown, NJ, arrested on January 6, 2012 by Patrolman Donald Coates for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. He was released pending a court date.
