The Middletown Police Department advises that it has received numerous reports of contractors work vans being broken into and a variety of hand tools and generators being taken from the vans. The thefts have occurred over a three week period. The police report that the suspects are either entering unlocked vans or smashing out a window in order to gain entry.
Police agencies in surrounding towns have reported experiencing similar thefts. The Middletown Police Department recommends parking these types of vehicles in a secure garage if possible or removing valuable tools if leaving these vehicles parked on the street.

Joshua Copeland, age 27, from Harvard Street in Red Bank, NJ, arrested on January 17, 2012 by Patrolman Michael Reuter on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Edison Municipal Court. He was released after posting $265.00 bail.
Andrew Jones, age 17, from Roundview Court in Land O Lakes, FL, arrested on January 17, 2012 by Corporal Ronald Chesek on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Atlantic City Municipal Court. He was held on $250.00 bail.
Mark Henderson, age 26, from Orchard Place in Middletown, NJ, arrested on January 17, 2012 by Sergeant Michael Shaffery on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was released after posting $250.00 bail.
Russell Haun, age 40, from McCormick place in Middletown, NJ, arrested on January 17, 2012 by Patrolman Ryan Riffert on Fugitive warrant issued by the Hillsborough County Court in Florida. He was held on $100,000 bail with no 10% option.
Christy Burke, age 26, from Highway 36 in Middletown, NJ, arrested on January 17, 2012 by Patrolman Keith Hirschbein for Obtaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance by Fraud, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Holmdel Municipal Court. She was held on $3,250.00 bail with no 10% option.
Danielle Calhoun, age 38, from Monmouth Parkway in Middletown, NJ, arrested on January 18, 2012 by Corporal James Keenan on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Hazlet Municipal Court. She was held on $500.00.
Chavonne Berry, age 22, from Green Grove Place in Neptune, NJ, arrested on January 18, 2012 by Patrolman Michael Pintilie issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. She was released after posting $250.00 bail.
Dean Spivey, age 23, from Saint Peter drive in South Amboy, NJ, arrested by Patrolman Robert McNair on Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Berlin, Ocean and Millstone Municipal Courts. He was released after posting $2072.00 bail.
