Well, what it is isn’t hard to guess. But do you know Where?
Last week, we pointed our lens skyward, framing a light tower, wires and number tags. The lights are at Count Basie Fields in Red Bank, and the foreground wires are above the North Jersey Coast Line track that runs nearby. Our photo was from Maple Avenue near the Atlantic Club.
Thirteen readers wrote in to say they recognized it, though three were a bit off, with one guessing the photo was taken at the Conrail yard about a quarter-mile north, another saying the Red Bank train station and the third identifying it with the Little Silver station.
Thanks to Kevin Chieff, Steve Goldsmith, Jenn Woods, Bob Kelly, the Colmorgen Kids, Robert Clark, Les Hathaway, Brian Phillips, Sandra Talarico, Jeff Dalton, Trish DePonti, Katherine Busch and Jim Bemiss, who writes that the numbers on the wires “show the locomotive engineer where to stop taking power depending on the number of cars in the train.” Thanks for the info, Jim, and to all our Where fans who took a moment to drop us an email.
