RUMSON CHARGES MAN WITH WEB STALKING

AUTHORITIES_RUMSON2-2014Rumson police charged a Wall Township man with online stalking of more than one borough resident Thursday.

Kevin Brennan, 44, was arrested on a warrant without incident at his home following a “lengthy” investigation to determine his identity and location, police said.

According to Detective Christopher Isherwood, Brennan anonymously posted “unwanted” and harassing messages on social media to more than one Rumson resident. He declined to identify the victims or their relationship to Brennan.

Isherwood tells redbankgreen that there was no separate charge of harassment or intimidation because the stalking statute embraces those behaviors, which are misdemeanors, whereas the stalking charge alleges a crime.

Isherwood, along with Patrolmen Anthony Ciambrone and Daniel Campanella, assisted by Wall Township police, made the arrest and search of Brennan’s home early Thursday morning.

Brennan was released on bail of $5,000.
