RUMSON: TWO TEENS FACE BOOZE CHARGES
By JOHN T. WARD
Two Rumson teens were arrested on booze-related charges after police busted up a party Saturday night.
The arrests followed a complaint to police at about 11 p.m. in which a caller reported a large party underway and multiple juveniles on the caller’s front lawn on Elm Place, said Detective Christopher Isherwood said.
Responding officers found the party in progress, and in response to a call for assistance, Fair Haven and Little Silver sent police also. But most of the partygoers fled immediately, Isherwood said.
Police arrested Ian Vernon, 18, identified as the party’s host, and charged him with maintaining a nuisance, serving alcoholic beverages to underage persons, and disorderly conduct.
Sam Chandler, 18, also of Rumson, was charged with underage possession of alcohol.
Both were released on summonses pending court appearances, Isherwood said.
