The fix involved replacing a stretch of the burst 36-inch main with a splice of ductile iron piping, a job completed shortly after midnight Sunday, according to a company spokesman Peter Eschbach.
“We are in the process of slowing filling the system back up this morning,” Eschbach told redbankgreen in an email. “Customers who had low pressure should be seeing it improve, and those customers who had no water service should be seeing a gradual return. We bring the system back up slowly to get all of the air out of the pipes, and avoid more problems with breaking pipes due to quick pressure changes.”
