Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”
Last week’s photo was a shot of the words “Greedy Pig” etched into the sidewalk in front of Whipped Creperie at 6 Monmouth Street. It seems someone had a grudge against someone right at the time when the cement was wet. Who this was, or when this happened, remains a mystery. There is also a random letter “G” at the other corner of the square, indicating the culprit may have started their message before deciding a more north-south orientation would better get the message across.
Building owner Mike Morgan said the words were already in the concrete when he bought 6-8 Monmouth Street in 2014. He did say the message may soon be erased, though. This stretch of sidewalk will likely be ripped up to clean and fill a 2,000 gallon underground tank discovered during the construction of the curbside “parklet” Morgan said. The discovery of that tank has temporarily delayed the project.
This week’s photo stumped a lot of people, but as one respondent said, “Red Bank letter carriers know this town.” That reply came from mail carrier Matthew Forman, who correctly identified it.
Thanks to those who wrote in: including Forman and Cecelia Freda.
