A man was killed after being struck by a southbound NJ Transit train near the Middletown-Red Bank bridge on New Year’s Eve, officials said.
An alert sent out by NJ Transit stated North Jersey Coast line rail service was suspended at about 6 pm. due to a fatal pedestrian strike near Red Bank.
Service was resumed at 8:15 pm according to alerts sent out by NJ Transit.
A train could be seen stopped on the southbound side tracks on the Middletown side of the bridge over the Navesink River while service was suspended. redbankgreen is awaiting further details on the incident.
nj.com reported the strike occurred on the Middletown side of the bridge with NJ Transit officials identifying the victim as an adult male.
Two pedestrians were killed after being struck by trains in Red Bank in September and October.
