A power outage left customers in pockets of Red Bank in the dark Sunday morning and afternoon according to Red Bank Police and Jersey Central Power and Light.
An emergency alert sent out by the borough at 11:29 am reads:
“The Red Bank Police Department is aware of a power outage currently affecting the area. JCP&L has been notified, and their crews are on-site assessing the situation to identify the cause and begin repairs.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as the issue is addressed. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available. Please stay safe.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
The JCP&L outage map showed outages in the area in and near downtown Red Bank and said the estimated time of power returning was 1 pm. By 12:37 those outages had been removed from the map.
Update: In a 2 pm email to redbankgreen, a JCP&L spokesperson said 41 customers remained without power and the company were estimating power should be restored by 3 pm. The company was still investigating the cause of the outage.
