A breakdown of teacher salaries across New Jersey’s 500-plus school districts by the state’s largest newspaper (for now) this week found educators in all three school systems serving Red Bank kids earn considerably less than most neighboring districts and the state overall.
And at one school – the Red Bank Charter School – teachers earn some of the lowest salaries in the entire state, according to the district-by-district breakdown of state data by The Star-Ledger/nj.com. Read their story here.
Teachers at the 250-student charter school earned a median salary of $54,240 for the 2024-2024 school year, the data shows. Statewide, the median teacher salary was $80,196.
Across the state, only the Ethical Community Carter School in Hudson County, Valley Charter School in Warren County and a pair of Cumberland County charter schools paid less, according to nj.com.
Red Bank’s other public schools also fall below the state median in teacher pay, according to the report.
Red Bank Borough Public Schools teachers earned a median salary of $64,075.
Red Bank Regional High School teachers earned a median salary of $74,700, the data shows. Teachers in Freehold Regional school district earned the highest median salary in Monmouth County at $98,000. Asbury Park is second with a median pay of $95,335. For the full breakdown of Monmouth County districts, click here.
The story relied on salary data reported annually in the Taxpayer’s Guide to Education Spending. The data is self-reported by the districts.
