Icing, glazing, salting, brining. Sounds like the daily routine of a bagel-donut-pickle shop operator but it’s just our ugly weather forecast.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 11 pm Wednesday to 10 am Thursday with dangerous icy driving conditions possible.
The forecast calls for less than an inch of snow to fall overnight, changing to freezing rain which could create a “glaze” of .1 to .2 inches and make driving hazardous. It is forecast to turn to all rain by 10 am. “It will be an icy mess late tonight into Thursday morning” reads a powerpoint posted to the NWS website for its 3:44 pm briefing.
Red Bank Department of Public Utilities and Monmouth County Highway Division trucks could be seen spraying brine on local roads through the afternoon in preparation for the storm.
