Last weekend, as reported here on redbankgreen, a small army of artists set out to capture our gorgeous town in oil and watercolors in the first annual “Paint Red Bank” a one-day, plein air painting competition and exhibition organized by Art Alliance. redbankgreen here presents a selection of the works they produced, which you still have a bit of time to see in person. See info below provided by Art Alliance.
“Boats on the Navesink” by Amber Mallm
Run as a benefit for the 501(c)(3) nonprofit resident on Monmouth Street since 1978, the arts organization mounted the event with help from their partners, MonmouthArts and Red Bank RiverCenter.
Artists stopped painting at 3:00 pm, stopped at the Art Alliance to prepare their works for hanging and then headed to ArtSpace, the exhibition space operated by MonmouthArts at 99 Monmouth Street.
Sven Widen, a local award-winning artist and art educator, juried the works and awarded $600 in cash prizes and $175 in gift cards.
The works will be on display at ArtSpace for two more days, Friday & Saturday, from 2 to 6 pm.
All paintings depict scenes of Red Bank and are for sale at very reasonable prices. There are works created in oil, acrylic, and watercolor.
“Once Bitten” by Diane Goossen.
“Spring Energy in Red Bank” by Heather Brown.
“Swimming River” by Jane Manco
“This Way Up” by Christopher McKinnon.
“Train Station” by John Matthias, the first prize winner in the competition.
