The 2025–2026 winter sports season has been one to remember at Red Bank Regional High School, with standout performances across swimming, track and field, and wrestling continuing to elevate the Buccaneers’ athletic tradition.
The RBR swimming program has been especially dominant, already breaking seven school records this season and producing multiple championship performances at the county, conference, and state levels.
Girls Swimming: A Championship Season
The RBR Girls Swim Team has enjoyed a remarkable winter, compiling a 7–1 record, capturing the Public A North Division Championship, and earning the second seed in the Shore Conference. The Buccaneers finished second overall at the Monmouth County Championships, claiming five county titles.

The girls shattered five school records at the county meet:

Amira Washington broke records in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly

Sydney VanDeBoe set new marks in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle

The 200 Medley Relay team rewrote the record books
Seniors Amira Washington and Sydney VanDeBoe capped their county performances by tying for the Monmouth County MVP/High Point Award.
The team entered postseason play as the third seed in the NJSIAA Tournament and has already advanced to the state finals.
Boys Swimming: Strong Finishes and Record-Breaking Performances
The RBR Boys Swim Team posted a 5–3 record this season and is currently seeded fifth in the Shore Conference.
At the Monmouth County Championships, the Buccaneers placed fourth overall and captured a county title behind senior Ryan Bailey, who won the 100 Breaststroke and set a new school record.

The boys broke two school records at the county meet and will compete in the NJSIAA Tournament as the seventh seed.
Track and Field Standouts Shine Statewide
RBR’s success extended beyond the pool, with senior athletes delivering record-breaking performances during the indoor track season.
Peter Gallina (photo below) captured the first Monmouth County long jump championship in school history, leaping a school-record 22 feet, 3.75 inches. Gallina is currently ranked first in New Jersey and 12th nationally in the Indoor Pentathlon and is contending for a spot in the Nike Indoor National Meet.
Senior Julia McCormack (photo below) claimed the Monmouth County championship in the pole vault, setting a school record at 11 feet. She followed that performance by breaking the school record in the triple jump (35 feet, 8 inches) and winning the Shore Conference Championship in the pole vault. McCormack has qualified for the Adidas Indoor National Championship Meet.
Also contributing to the Buccaneers’ strong showing, senior Conor Fagan placed third in the Shore Conference in the 400 meters, running a time of 52.25 seconds.
Wrestlers notch wins
The Red Bank Regional wrestling team hosted the BUC Classic Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, January 10, welcoming a competitive field of sixteen teams.
RBR delivered a strong showing on its home mats, highlighted by:

Jason Huss (157) capturing the championship

Jack Galligan (144) earning a second-place finish
The tournament was well attended and showcased the strength and sportsmanship of the RBR wrestling program.
Senior Jason Huss continued his outstanding season by reaching the milestone of 100 career victories during the Shore Conference Tournament, held January 23 and 24 at Lakewood High School.
Pictured with his proud family members and coaching staff, Huss’s accomplishment reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and leadership both on and off the mat.
Hall of Fame Nominations Now Open
As Red Bank Regional celebrates its current success, the school is also honoring its storied past.
The Red Bank Athletic Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for its Fall 2026 induction class. Community members are encouraged to nominate deserving former Red Bank High School or Red Bank Regional athletes.
