The cheese and gourmet food shop Fourchette is closing its Red Bank location Saturday after a three-year run at 132 Broad Street.
The owner tells Churn she needs to focus on other aspects of their growing business, including internet sales and locations in Clinton and Beach Haven.
“We are experiencing so much growth at my other two locations and via e-commerce,” owner Meredith Hyland told Churn in an email. ” I’m also launching catering, a private chef dinner-in-home, and prepared foods line at LBI. I realized I was spread too thinly with three retail locations and needed more bandwidth to focus on the growth. “
At the same time, she added, two of her “awesome staff” have been offered full time jobs in their career fields that were too good to pass up.
“So the universe made a decision I’d been thinking about for a while,” she said. “This is a good thing for us. “
Her email continued: “For all of our dedicated customers: we have two other locations an hour in either direction and also ship anywhere. The shop space is beautiful and would be turnkey for anyone looking to open a food business in the heart of downtown. This Saturday, the 11th, is our last day operating. We are hosting one last chef dinner with Chef Lauren Covas on the 16th. We have some fixtures and equipment for sale – all newish, purchased 3 years ago. “
It was simply time to make room for the next venture.”
Owners Meredith and Brahim Hyland opened the shop in 2023 amid a flurry of new business openings on the southern end of the Broad Street business district.
