The guy in the top job at Red Bank Borough Hall is sticking around for another three years.
The Red Bank Mayor and Borough Council unanimously approved a new contract with Borough Manager Jim Gant last week, okaying a three-year deal that will keep him at the helm of municipal operations through 2028.
Gant was hired in November, 2023, after voters elected in 2022 to change the borough to a council-manager form of government. He had previously served as borough administrator in Sea Girt.
The contract sets Gant’s salary at $225,000 per year, with 3.75 percent raises kicking in each January first. The borough manager also receives a $775 monthly vehicle stipend.
Referencing the years of political tumult and government dysfunction that preceded the referendum, Deputy Mayor Kate Triggiano praised Gant before the council’s vote on the resolution approving the new contract.
“You have completely changed the culture of the borough,” Triggiano said. “I believe you could ask any employee of the borough if that’s the case and every single employee of the borough would say you accomplished that. You truly are that phenomenal of a leader and we are so fortunate to have you in Red Bank. I saw this place when it was at its lowest and I am seeing it now in a completely different way. And you did that. “
