The press release from the County of Monmouth Department of Public Information said a new monument commemorating the 250th anniversary of US Independence would be unveiled Thursday morning at “Swimming River Park located at 483 West Front St. in Red Bank.”
Seeing as redbankgreen strictly covers only news within the geographical boundaries of Red Bank, we went as far as we could to get a look.
Somewhere in the distance in this view from Bellhaven Nature Area at the foot of Locust Avenue, you can see the tent holding attendees at the unveiling of a new statue in Swimming River Park, Middletown.
Our self-imposed coverage limits and the well-known 07701 zip code vagaries aside, recent upgrades to the county-owned park, including the new sculpture, have made it well worth the walk across Hubbard’s Bridge.
