On the block of Catherine Street between Leighton and Shrewsbury Avenues, detectives and officers with the Red Bank Police Department were investigating a black SUV parked in a driveway alongside 107 Catherine Street whose windows had been shot out.
Frazee said the gunman appeared to have been targeting one of several people in the front yart of the home.
Frazee said no one was in the car at the time of the shooting.
Police were also investigating whether bullets had struck the home at 107 and the house next door.
In the street about 100 feet west of the home, a detective had placed at least ten numbered markers, which police typically use to mark the location of fallen shell casings.
Witnesses described a car pulling up near the home while several people were in the yard. They said the gunman exited the car, firing multiple shots in quick succession before getting back in the car and leaving the scene in the vehicle.
Eladio Aguilar, who lives in the home with his family, said he and several family members were in the yard when a car pulled up in the street, a gunman in a mask got out of a car, yelled his son’s name and fired multiple shots in quick succession.
He said the SUV belongs to his stepdaughter, who was inside at the time of the shooting. He said one bullet had travelled through the upstairs window of the home.
“I’m scared,” Aguilar said. “What do I do now?”
Red Bank police officers were questioning his son alongside a patrol car when he appeared to briefly struggle with them.
An emergency alert put out by the Borough of Red Bank asked residents to avoid the area and reiterated Frazee’s remarks about the lack of any wider danger to the public.
