We know it’s officially fall now, but in this one corner of town, the colors of summer were still holding on this week.
Do you know where in Red Bank the above photo was taken?
Send your answer (or best guess) to [email protected] by noon, Thursday, October 9. We’ll reveal the location the next day.

Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”
Well this is a major screw-up.
Last week’s photo was shot the area along East Front Street near the NJ Transit trestle overpass and the pedestrian walkway from Front Street to Shrewsbury Avenue. The problem is, the photo I posted as the clue was actually the photo I was supposed to post this week as the reveal. SMH!
Both photos are above. In the end, it worked out, I assume. Even the reveal was a somewhat challenging photo.
But for a lot of our wonderful sharp-eyed regulars, my gaffe was like a meaty fastball down the center of the plate. A solid number of you knocked it out of the park.
Raudy Rausher correctly wrote the photo was taken facing southeast toward the pedestrian path just east of the Kyrillos/Hubbard’s Bridge next to the Red Bank Marina.
Jim Cummings noted the 10′ 11″ height of the overpass, no doubt a wink-and-a-nod reference to the truck drivers who regularly ignore the signs alerting them to the height of the bridge and crash into it.
John Cheevers called the walkway down to Front Street the “Secret Walkway.”
The walkway down to Front Street is not used much, but is a crucial link allowing folks to walk from the west side of town across the bridge and into the great newly built park across the bridge.
It’s also a key component in a near-contiguous (if rough) trail that allows a walker to go from the woods at the foot of Sunset Avenue to Swimming River Park in Middletown without ever crossing a street. Much of this route (including this walkway) are featured in our video series in which I walk the waterfront.
“Where’ regular Chuck Stern said he recognized this weeks location from our video, which made me feel good.
Mary Ellen Banfield, provided some nice detail saying the parking lot at the top of the walkway was the location of the old Hance Davis coal and feed store demolished years ago.
And Sue Noone recalls the hill up under the trestle “was a monster when you were learning to drive a manual transmission car.” Maybe that’s why all the truck drivers who crash into it are so distracted!
Thanks to those who wrote in.
