A plan to redevelop a parking lot on the shore of the Navesink River will be aired at a special public meeting Monday night.

As previously reported by redbankgreen, the owners of the nearby Galleria complex have submitted plans to build 40 apartments on the lot at 26-28 Shrewsury Avenue. A section of public waterfront walkway would be built in front of the complex, according to the plans.

To facilitate the plan, the Borough Council voted in August to designate the property an “area in need of rehabilitation.” Monday’s meeting is a public hearing required as part of that process.

A notice posted to the Borough’s website reads: “The Borough of Red Bank is creating a Rehabilitation Plan for the site at 26-28 Shrewsbury Avenue to facilitate the development of new housing and a public waterfront walkway. Join us for the public meeting to learn about the project and ask questions about the planning process and future development.”

The meeting begins at 6:30 pm at the Red Bank Senior Center, 80 Shrewsbury Avenue.
