A weekend event brought several dozen enthusiasts of the augmented reality game Pokemon Go to chase virtual creatures around Red Bank Saturday.
They briefly crossed paths with several hundred anti-ICE marchers in Riverside Gardens Park, providing a delightful juxtaposition for avid people watchers. We noted in particular a moment when a young protestor walked alongside Rep. Frank Pallone, screaming in his face about US policy toward Israel, while the two navigated a crowd of people staring down at their phones, too busy chasing virtual creatures to pay them any mind.
The hunting party, several of whom chatted warmly with us about their interesting hobby, stopped at the 7-11 where this photo was taken in the parking lot. (Partyline submission by Brian Donohue.)
