SCHOOL BUDGETS GET VOTER OKS

Schoolvote2009Poll worker Elizabeth Herbert waits as a Red Bank voter casts his ballots at the new third- and seventh-district polling place at the First Church of Christ, Scientist.

Area school district budgets easily passed Tuesday, according to election results available this morning from Monmouth County.

In Red Bank, three incumbents held onto their seats as a challenger, Grace Costa — a longtime former member of the Red Bank Regional board — came up short, according to data in today’s Asbury Park Press.

The winner among write-in candidates for the one-year unexpired Red Bank term was not available this morning. No candidates had declared for the seat.

Voter turnout was light at the new voting station for the third and seventh Red Bank districts, according to poll workers. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, which is in the fourth district, on Broad Street, replaced the First Aid Squad building on Spring Street as the home to the two districts after the squad decided recently not to host any more elections.
