MIDDLETOWN: POLICE BLOTTER

call-in-the-authorities• On September 5, 2011 at approximately 2:15 pm Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia and Patrolman Michael Reuter of the Quality of Life Unit were on patrol in the area of Hosford Avenue when they stopped a vehicle for travelling at a high rate of speed. The officers approached the vehicle at which point they detected a strong odor of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the car.

The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in the discovery of a glass pipe used for smoking Marijuana, a burnt Marijuana cigarette and a baggie containing Marijuana being found inside the vehicle and the arrests of Michael Miller, age 22, from 9th Street in Belford, NJ, Cal Timmons, age 18, from Highway 36 in Leonardo, NJ, and Guy Weiss, age 18, from Locust Point Road in Navesink, NJ, for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The officers also located an outstanding Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court for Miller.

All three subjects were transported to police headquarters for processing. Miller was released after posting $639.00 bail and Weiss and Timmons for released pending a court date.

• On September 5, 2011 at approximately 10:30 pm Patrolman Richard Fulham was on patrol in the area of Highway 36 when he stopped a vehicle for swerving in and out of its lane of travel. Officer Fulham stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, identified as Kurt Prigge, age 45, from Highland Avenue in Leonardo, NJ, at which point he detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Officer Fulham conducted an investigation which resulted in Prigge being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On September 5, 2011 at approximately 2:15 am Corporal Daniel Murdoch and Patrolman James Beirne responded to the area of Hialeah Avenue in reference to a report of an assault that had occurred at a party. Upon arrival the officers began to conduct an investigation when they observed a subject, identified as Joshua Grossman, age 25, from Marina Bay Court in Highlands, NJ, asleep in a vehicle. The officers were attempting to wake him up to check on his well-being when Grossman began to yell and scream and swing his arms at the officers. He then pushed the officers at which point he was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. Grossman was extremely intoxicated at the time.

Grossman was transported to police headquarters for processing. Upon arrival at headquarters police say Grossman refused to be processed and began pushing the officers again. He was then charged with the additional offense of Obstructing the Administration of Law. He was released pending a court date.

• On September 4, 2011 at approximately 5:05 am Patrolman Adam Vendetti was on patrol in the area of the AT&T complex on Red Hill Road when he stopped a vehicle for driving through the complex at a high rate of speed. Officer Vendetti approached the driver, identified as Joseph Lopez, age 21, from Roseville Avenue in Newark, NJ, at which point he detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Officer Vendetti conducted an investigation which resulted in Lopez being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On September 4, 2011 at approximately 10:25 pm Patrolman David Crenshaw was on patrol in the area of the Shop Rite store when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked near the exit. Officer Crenshaw approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver, identified as Theodore Miller, age 46, from Golden Lane in Hazlet, NJ, at which point he detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person.

Corporal Bernard Chenoweth, who was assigned to a DWI patrol detail, responded to the scene and assisted Officer Crenshaw. Corporal Chenoweth conducted an investigation which resulted in Miller being charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On September 3, 2011 at approximately 2:30 am Patrolman James Beirne was on patrol in the area of Harmony Road when he stopped a vehicle for having a light out. Officer Beirne approached the driver, identified as Patrick Grotheer, age 18, from Raymond Avenue in Middletown, NJ, at which point he detected an odor of raw Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Officer Beirne conducted an investigation and located a baggie containing Marijuana in Grotheer’s pocket. Grotheer was then arrested and was charged with Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On September 3, 2011 at approximately 4:55 pm Corporal Bernard Chenoweth responded to the Sears Store in reference to a report of a shoplifting. Upon arrival store security advised the officer that they had observed a subject, identified as Albert Shopp, age 24, from Summit Avenue in Belford, NJ, attempt to steal approximately $80.00 worth of merchandise.

Officer Chenoweth arrested Shopp for Shoplifting. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On September 1, 2011 at approximately 5:05 pm Patrolman Michael Reuter responded to the area of Highway 35 and Harmony Road in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival the officer located one of the drivers, identified as Kathy Thomson, age 60, from Avenue B in West Keansburg, NJ, standing near her vehicle. The officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath.

Officer Reuter conducted an investigation which resulted in Thomson being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date.

• On August 31, 2011 at approximately 1:30 pm Patrolman Keith Hirschbein responded to the WAWA store in reference to a report of a credit card fraud. Upon arrival store security advised the officer that a store employee, identified as Devin Daniels, age 19, from Ocean Avenue in Middletown, NJ, fraudulently used customer credit cards to steal approximately $1,200.00.

Officer Hirschbein conducted an investigation and determined that Daniels served as a gas attendant and would double charge customers who purchased gas and would keep the extra money for himself. He was arrested and charged with Credit Card Fraud.  Officer Hirschbein also located two outstanding Contempt of Court warrants for Daniels arrest issued by the Keansburg Municipal Court. He was held pending bail being set.

• The Middletown Police Department reports the arrests of the following subjects for various offenses:

James Molloy, age 33, from Powell Avenue in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania arrested on September 4, 2011 by Patrolman David Crenshaw on two Contempt of Court warrants issued by the Keansburg Municipal Court. He was held on $1,905.00 bail.

George Garulle, age 42, from Sandy Hook Avenue in Belford, NJ, arrested on September 4, 2011 by Sgt. Fred Deickmann on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Old Bridge Municipal Court. He was held on $2,200.00 bail.

Jamie Lennon, age 21, from Seabreeze Avenue in Middletown, NJ, arrested on September 3, 2011 by Corporal Bernard Chenoweth on a Failure to Appear warrant issued by the Monmouth County Superior Court.  She was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold, NJ.

Michael Intelli, age 32, from Sidney Terrace in Keansburg, NJ, arrested on September 4, 2011 by Patrolman Kevin Gardiner on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Holmdel Municipal Court. He was released after posting $156.00 bail.

Dennis Bannon, age 47, from Highway 36 in Leonardo, NJ, arrested on September 2, 2011 by Patrolman Raymond Sofield and Patrolman Christopher Dee of the Quality of Life Unit on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Keansburg Municipal Court. He was held on $300.00 bail.

Christopher Shea, age 42, from West Richard Drive in Mount Arlington, NJ, arrested on September 3, 2011 by Detective Lieutenant Stephen Dollinger on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Roxbury Municipal Court. He was held on $328.00 bail.

Garry Vandemark, age 29, from Amherst Avenue in Navesink, NJ, arrested on September 1, 2011 by Patrolman Christopher Dee and Patrolman Raymond Sofield of the Quality of Life Unit for Simple Assault. He was processed and released pending a court date.

John Bleibdrey, age 28, from Hosford Avenue in Leonardo, NJ, arrested on September 2, 2011 by Corporal George Freibott for Simple Assault. He was held on $2,000 bail set by Judge Richard Thompson.

Tyler Lippi, age18, from Walling Avenue in Belford, NJ, 07718, arrested on September 5, 2011 by Patrolman David Crenshaw on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Tinton Falls Municipal Court. He was released after posting bail.

Stephen Prunyi, age 23, from Palmer Avenue in Middletown, NJ, arrested on September 5, 2011 by Corporal Bernard Chenoweth on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Holmdel Municipal Court. He was released after posting $200.00 bail.

Eric Hornig, age 33, from Fairview drive in Middletown, NJ, arrested on September 5, 2011 by Patrolman John Soltysik for Terroristic Threats and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold, NJ, on $5,000.00 bail set by Judge Richard Thompson.
