The owner of a Fair Haven antiques shop was held up at gunpoint by a robber who fled with the contents of a safe, police reported Saturday evening.
Here’s an announcement sent out by the FHPD at 5:18 p.m.:
The Fair Haven Police Department is investigating an armed robbery which took place
this morning at Blue Stove Antiques at 769 River Rd. At 9:21am, a disguised subject
entered the store and confronted the owner with a handgun, demanding he open the
safe. Once the safe was opened, the actor emptied the contents into a gym bag and
fled the scene. Proceeds include mostly jewelry and watches. The actor is described as
a white male, approximately 5’10”, 40-50 years of age, average build, wearing a black
jacket and dark pants. He was armed with a stainless steel revolver and was carrying a
handheld scanner or radio. The actor was operating a white compact vehicle, possibly
a Nissan, with a vertical hatchback, bearing an out of state license plate and was last
seen heading eastbound on River Rd. Anyone with any information is asked to contact
the Fair Haven Police Department at 732-747-0991. Sergeant Robert Townshend and
Patrolman Stephen Schneider were the initial responding officers. Detective Sergeant
Jesse Dykstra is continuing the investigation.
