Professional Pharmacy, a Red Bank fixture for more than six decades, is closing.
Owner Michael Yura tells redbankgreen that the store’s pharmacy accounts have been sold to Rite Aid and will be transferred to the chain’s Red Bank store on Water Street.
Meantime, the store’s extensive gift and greeting card business will be closed, he said
Yura said the decision to close was the result of “a whole bunch of factors” that he declined to immediately discuss.
“Unfortunately, it is time to move on,” he said.
Further information will be forthcoming Friday, he said.
Yura said the pharmacy, known for opening every day of the year but Christmas, was started 61 years ago on Monmouth Street by Jay Greenberg and later sold to Manny Rubin. It’s been located on Broad Street, just south of Peters Place, for about 55 years, he said.
Yura took over the business from his father, Richard Yura, who acquired it from Rubin, he said.
