A 69-year-old Staten Island man who admitted robbing a Fair Haven antiques store at gunpoint last summer has been sentenced to 114 months in prison, federal law enforcement officials said Tuesday.
Robert Fiolka, who wore a “flesh-colored” mask and toted a gun in the June, 2012 robbery of Blue Stove Antiques on River Road, made off with $200,000 in jewelry, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.
Authorities say Fiolka entered the store at 9:30 a.m. that Saturday and pointed a handgun at the owner, demanding that he open the stores safe. After the owner complied, Fiolka ordered him to the ground and then proceeded to empty the safes contents into a satchel that he had with him, Fishman said.
He was arrested three months later, and pleaded guilty to robbery and use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence in April. His sentencing took place in district court in Trenton.
Fiolkas priors included a 1967 armed robbery of a bank in Matawan in which a bank employee was taken hostage, redbankgreen had previously confirmed, though authorities have not mentioned that case in their announcements concerning the Blue Stove robbery.
In the present case, the FBI also linked Fiolka to three central New Jersey jewelry stores dating back to 2007, though those also were not mentioned.
