To get a sense of how folks around the greater Red Bank Green will be celebrating Thanksgiving, PieHole checked in with a few area barbers and hair stylists. In this, the fifth and final in the series, we pop in on three barbers.

Art’s Barbershop, Monmouth Street.

Jim Murphy, Monmouth Beach: Go over my mother in law’s, and she just cooks like a madwoman. Three different kinds of meats for about 15 to 20 people. She’ll make a ham, turkey and lamb. And she’ll make meatballs, too.

Barber, Rick Memmola: Going to a friend’s house in Long Branch, and we’ll probably have pasta or a lasagna. I’m not a big fan of turkey. I just plan on eating a lot.

House of Fades, Monmouth Street, Red Bank.

Barber, Robinson Hernandez, Owner:  We will get together with family in Queens. My mother and father live up there. My father’s 88. We’re going to have turkey, barbecue chickens on the  side we’ll have Dominican rice – rice with beans – a salad, mashed potatoes. It’s all my family, so altogether we’ll have about 50 people. It’s a big family. We’ll probably put two turkeys on the tables – you know, big family and everybody cooks something to put on the table.

Chair, Vince Fabrico, Red Bank: I will be heading to Long Island to be with my family, and then I’m heading to Florida for two weeks. Mostly Italian food actually. We do a little bit of turkey but it’s more of the manicotti and the lasagna and meatballs and a little bit of turkey. My grandmother makes a really, really good turkey. We have about 15 people. The big holiday for us is really Christmas.

Old World Saving Parlor, West Front St.

Chair, Ryan Jones, Red Bank: Stay local, go to my aunt’s house in Red Bank, maybe 20 or 30 people. We have the staples, a lot of the staples. My daughter was born on Thanksgiving last year, so we’ll be celebrating her birthday Friday, and we’ll be thankful for that.

Barber, Ricardo Parrino: I’ll be with the family in Long Island. We have turkey, ham, the usual. Pasta too, and sauce. But Christmas is really the big one for us. On Christmas we have the fish.
