Press release from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School

Six student-athletes marked a milestone by signing National Letters of Intent at a ceremony on February 5, in the Lower Library of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School.

The National Letter of Intent serves as a binding agreement between student-athletes and their collegiate sports programs. The letter, signed on what is known as National Signing Day, marks the last step in the recruitment and commitment process.

Donald Bedell, who appears at number 23 in The Star Ledger list of “New Jersey’s Top 50 Senior Recruits”, will be a defensive end for the Rutgers University football team.

Bedell, who stands 6’4″ and weighs 230 pounds, made a verbal commitment to the Scarlet Knights in June 2013.

His RFH teammate Peter Righi, a 6’3″ 285-pound offensive lineman, signed his National Letter of Intent to play for Monmouth University in West Long Branch.

Girls soccer midfielder Schuyler DeBree — named “Player of the Year” by the Asbury Park Press this past fall — signed on the dotted line for Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Eamon Kitson, also named Asbury Park Press “Player of the Year” this past season for his success as a forward on the RFH boys soccer team, will be on the roster for University of Vermont.

Bridget Miles, who played center back on the RFH girls field hockey team, made it official for Fairfield University in Connecticut.

And Jason Bryan, who recently smashed the Central Jersey Group 2 shot put record with a personal-best of 60-0 — the second-highest score in New Jersey and ninth in the nation for the 2013-14 winter track season — will join the Rutgers University track and field team.
