RED BANK: KNIFEPOINT ROBBERY REPORTED

A Red Bank man was arrested Tuesday night on charges that he robbed a pedestrian at knifepoint, police reported.

The 32-year-old male victim, also a borough resident, reported that he was approached by a young Latino male who first demanded money, and when the victim refused, brandished a knife and repeated the demand.

The encounter occurred at about 9:23 p.m. on Monmouth Street near Bridge Avenue, police said.

RED BANKER CHARGED IN WEST SIDE MUGGING

A resident of the new Cedar Crossing housing development was arrested and charged with mugging a man on a nearby street corner earlier this month, Red Bank police announced Friday.

Niko Rossano, 20, was arrested Wednesday on charges he struck the victim in the face and stole his wallet in an early morning robbery in the area of Leighton Avenue and Bank Street on September 16, Captain Darren McConnell tells redbankgreen.

Attempted Robbery and Assault occurring at Pinckney Road parking lot of apartment complex on 9-7-12. Victim reported that an unknown male subject assaulted him in the parking lot of the complex, striking the victim on the right side of body while demanding that the victim turn over his watch. TRIO WITH GUN, BATS SOUGHT IN MUGGING

Robbery occurring on 7-31-10 in the area of W. Bergen Place. Victim reported three black males approx. 20 to 25, two carrying baseball bats and one carrying a gun approached him from behind while he was walking. One accused grabbed him around the neck and the other two began striking the victim with the baseball bats, demanding money.
