Red Bank police charged a Tinton Falls man Tuesday for a violent street robbery last month.
Kaire Hatcher, 22, of 53 Steven Avenue, was charged with robbery and assault in the alleged attack, which occurred on West Street on October 15, according to a police report.
According to police, the suspect approached the victim at about at about 10 p.m. and pretended to have a gun in a bag. He then punched the victim repeatedly in the head and face, leaving him with a concussion and facial swelling.
The attacker fled after taking about $500 in cash and a cellphone worth $400 from the victim, according to the report.
At the time the charges were filed, Hatcher was already being held, since November 9, on burglary charges in Tinton Falls, with bail in that case of $38,500, according to the Asbury Park Press Data Universe.
Red Bank Chief Darren McConnell said the mugging charges resulted from his department’s investigation.
Municipal Judge William Himelman ordered Hatcher held on $220,000 bail without the option to put down just 10 percent.
