RUMSON: INTERSECTION CLOSED

ON THE GREEN: RIDGE ROAD CLOSURES BEGIN

ridge rd 110515Overnight closures of a stretch of Ridge Road in Fair Haven, Little Silver and Rumson got underway Wednesday night to allow for repaving work.

The closures, from Bingham Avenue to west of Prospect Avenue, are expected to recur over six nights, weather permitting, except for the weekend. Residents who access their homes from the road are being allowed through, according to local police. (Photo by Trish Russoniello. Click to enlarge)

TROTTING OUT THE T-BIRDS AGAIN

turkeys1redbankgreen spotted four more wild turkeys at about 10a Thursday morning, this time outside the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven.

Since our last update on this topic, we’ve heard additional reports of wild turkey sightings, with the birds usually in a rafter of four or five, from Lincroft, Little Silver and Fair Haven. Fair Haven Fire Chief Jim Cerruti spends more time than he’d like at the intersection of Ridge and Fair Haven roads.

He and his volunteer crew were out there again Tuesday afternoon for a fender-bender that, while there were no injuries involved, highlights safety concerns that Cerruti says haven’t been addressed with any kind of action.
