One woman was taken to the hospital today after she flipped her sport utility vehicle in Rumson’s business district Monday morning. rumson-rx-accident1

Despite the scary looking scene, with the car resting on its driver’s side in the middle of the road, the unidentified woman appeared to make it out of the accident with no major injuries.

The cause of the accident is not yet known, authorities said.

CHEMICAL FIRE SETS OFF EXPLOSIONS

A chemical fire at a Rumson home Friday afternoon spurred the evacuation of two homes and kept emergency workers on the scene into Saturday morning trying to contain a cantankerous series of explosions.

“It sounded like the Fourth of July fireworks for about three hours,” said Bob Maras, who was one of dozens of volunteer responders who worked about 12 hours outside the home at 3 Sailers Way.

One car t-boned another. A third car was tumbled on its side. And a fourth was flipped onto its roof.

No injuries reported.

The scene was not, in fact, a gnarly multi-car wreck, but a dummy set-up for firefighters from Rumson, Sea Bright and Sandy Hook to sharpen their vehicle rescue skills.

SUV FLIPS IN TWO-CAR RUMSON ACCIDENT

A two-car accident on Rumson Road sent an unknown number of people to the hospital Saturday morning and left an ugly scene for emergency responders to clean up.

Fire Chief Kevin McCarthy said those involved in the accident, in which a white Lexus sports utility vehicle flipped over on the side of the road, were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

“Everybody was out of the area when we got here,” he said at about 11a.

This is the second accident on Rumson Road in two days.

MINOR INJURIES IN RUMSON ROAD CRASH

An unidentified driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries after a head-on collision at a busy intersection in Rumson Tuesday night.

The crash occurred around 9:15p at the corner of Ward Avenue and Rumson Road, opposite Holy Cross School — a problematic and sometimes tricky area to navigate, neighbors said.
