M’TOWN COPS NAB V-DAY SHOPLIFTERS

just_in1By DUSTIN RACIOPPI

Four Middletown residents, including a related trio from the Belford section of town, were arrested on Valentine’s Day for shoplifting from the Kohl’s department store on Route 35, police said.

The group, after walking through the store for two hours, is accused of lifting $1,240 in merchandise from the chain.

George Garulle, 42, Mary Garulle, 43, Chantelel Garulle, 28, — all from Sandy Hook Avenue in Belford — and Adam Stranges, 19, from Seabreeze Avenue, were arrested at about 5p Monday and charged with shoplifting and conspiracy to commit shoplifting.

According to police, store security observed the four suspects walking through the store for about two hours, then left with merchandise without paying. When approached by security, they dropped some of the items and left the scene in a silver Kia Sedona, police said.

Police caught and arrested the group in the area of Route 35 and Apple Farm Road.

George and Chantelle Garulle were later discovered to have contempt of court warrants for their arrest.

Chantelle Garulle was held on $30,000 bail with no 10 percent option; George Garulle was held on $20,000 bail with no 10 percent option; Mary Garulle was released on $1,500 bail with a 10 percent option; and Stranges was held on $15,000 with no 10 percent option.
