A Red Bank woman was arrested last week for stealing jewelry from a Little Silver home, police said.

Melynda Wilson, 28, of Madison Avenue, was arrested on February 18 and charged with theft.

Little Silver Detective Sergeant Dan Shaffery said Wilson had access to a Prospect Avenue home and knew the people she’s accused of stealing two rings from.

“She knew the homeowners, which had been away, and she helped herself to the rings,” Shaffery said. The alleged theft is believed to have occurred on February 15, he said.

The value of the two rings is estimated at about $1,700, he said, and were later recovered.

Police are also investigating whether Wilson may have taken a watch missing from the residence.

Wilson is scheduled to appear in court on the theft charge on March 3.
