A 24-year-old man was killed in a single-car accident in Middletown early Friday morning, police said.

Jonathan Hendler, of Middletown, was pronounced dead on the scene at about 2a, Lt. John Maguire said.

Hendler was driving a 1998 Mazda Millenium on Nutswamp Road, between Amy Way and White Acre Boulevard, police said, when he lost control of the car and hit several trees on the side of the road.

The accident is under investigation by the traffic bureau’s patrolmen. Nick Caprio, and Darrin Simon and Sergeant Fred Deickman, as well as the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Eric Kerecman.

Anyone with information is asked to call Middletown police’s traffic bureau at 732.615.2045.

The accident was the second fatal wreck in town this week, following the death of 18-year-old Paul Bradley in a crash early Sunday morning on Cooper Road.
