Red Bank may be getting a Fiat store.
Representatives of Miglo Motors have submitted plans for consideration with the borough planning office for a dealership that would include a new, 10,000-square-foot showroom at the corner of Newman Springs Road and Broad Street, opposite Dunkin’ Donuts.
Fueled by its 500 model, the Italian automaker – whose name was once mocked as an acronym for “Fix It Again, Tony” – has undergone a renaissance in the past five years, with the tiny sedans becoming more prevalent on American roads.
The showroom would be build on the vacant site of a former Budget car rental lot, a triangular bounded on one side by the North Jersey Coast Line tracks.
The plans are under review for compliance with local ordinances by borough Engineer Christine Ballard, said planning director Donna Smith Barr. No hearing before either the planning or zoning board has yet been scheduled, she said.
Representatives of Miglo could not be reached for immediate comment.
