Two men were behind bars Saturday following quick police action on a burglary in Little Silver Friday night.
According to borough police, a Carolyn Road resident called 911 Friday evening and reported that she arrived home to find that her house had been ransacked.
Almost simultaneously, an off-duty Little Silver police officer saw two men fleeing the area on bicycles.
The were subsequently detained for questioning and found to be in possession of jewelry, silverware, electronics and other personal items belonging to the Carolyn Road resident, police said.
Arrested were Jason Mayer, 30, of Lakehurst, and Christopher MacKay, 34 of Paterson. They were ordered held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $100,000 bail each.
The officer was not immediately identified.
