Press release from Red Bank Regional High School
Six members of the Visual & Performing Arts Academy (VPA) at Red Bank Regional High School are currently performing in the Phoenix Productions staging of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music. The beloved show that gave the world such standards as “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Do Re Mi,” “My Favorite Things” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” opened this past weekend and continues with three more performances, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm.
Lead roles were procured by Eliana Swartz (Little Silver), who portrays Liesl, eldest daughter of the singing Von Trapp family, and Bobby Davis (Shrewsbury), who plays Rolf, the local boy whose innocent crush on Liesl masks a more troubling alliance.
RBR students who are members of the ensemble include Jaclyn Gisondi (Shrewsbury), Jillian Lamanno (Little Silver), Victoria Aumack and Dana Brown (both Union Beach).
The VPA program has been educating students in the visual and performing arts for over 30 years. Many VPA students have achieved high academic and performance success and have gone on to attend prestigious performing arts programs at major universities throughout the United States.
