The victim in a fatal shooting in Eatontown early last Friday was a Red Bank man, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office confirmed Monday afternoon.
Rasheem Palmer, 37, died at 2:47 a.m. Friday at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, two and a half hours after he was found lying wounded in the roadway at the the entrance to the Country Club Apartments, according to prosecutor’s spokesman Charles Webster.
Palmer’s street address was not immediately available.
According a prepared statement from the prosecutor’s office, Eatontown police, responding to a report of shots fired, found Palmer lying in the roadway of Country Club Road at the corner of Tinton Avenue at 12:13 a.m.
From the statement:
Police quickly determined that the individual had been shot and contacted emergency medical services, who arrived shortly thereafter. The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center; where, despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at 2:47 a.m.
A joint investigation was immediately launched by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Eatontown Police Department. That investigation is active an ongoing.
