Retired teacher Brother James Leahy was apparently beginning his daily walk along Newman Springs Road when he was stuck by a vehicle at the end of the campus driveway, according to the report.

A motorcyclist was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Lincroft Sunday afternoon, police said.
The crash occurred on West Front Street just east of Shady Oaks Way at 2:52 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Steve Dollinger.
Rasheem Palmer, 37, died at 2:47 a.m. Friday at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, two and a half hours after he was found lying wounded in the roadway at the the entrance to the Country Club Apartments, according to prosecutor’s spokesman Charles Webster.
Nadra Sourial was stuck as she crossed the highway from east to west at the intersection of Harmony Road at about 6:10 p.m., according to Captain Steve Dollinger.

The vehicle caught fire in the accident, which occurred at about 3:18 a.m. along the 700 block of the road, said Detective Lieutenant Stephen Dollinger, spokesman for the township police department.

Red Bank officials are backing a Monmouth County push for safety upgrades to the intersection of Broad Street and East Bergen Place, where a Staten Island woman was run over by an SUV four years ago.
In a July 2 letter to the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, Mayor Pasquale Menna gets behind a request by Monmouth County for funding to improve the intersection, where Menna said there have been at least 34 accidents since 2010.
The accident occurred on Oak Hill Road near Princeton Street, police said.
A 20-year-old Middletown woman died in a single-vehicle crash on Oak Hill Road in the township early Saturday, according to news reports.
Police Detective Lieutenant Stephen Dollinger told the Asbury Park Press that Katherine Arliss was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee near Princeton Street when the accident happened around 12:40 a.m.

On September 4, 2013 at approximately 3:04pm the Middletown Police Department responded to the area of West Front Street and Harbor Green Circle in reference to a motor vehicle collision. Preliminary investigation revealed Robert Depalma, age 69, from Monroe Township, was operating a motor cycle travelling east bound on West Front Street when he was struck by a vehicle travelling west bound that was attempting to make a left turn onto Harbor Green Circle operated by Daniella Coccurello, age 23, from Lincroft, NJ.
Robert Womble, 52, faces charges of stealing valuables from a vehicle parked on East Westside Avenue on May 22 and from another on West Sunset Avenue eight days later, police said.
Womble was one of two men who entered the burning home of 64-year-old Phyllis Rudrow on Drs. James Parker Boulevard on September 18, 2011, pulling her to safety from the smoke-filled structure.
Rudrow died of her injuries four days later.

The pilot of a boat that smashed into another on the Navesink River almost two years ago has been indicted on vehicular homicide charge, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office announced Tuesday.
George Harrington, 41, of Browns Dock Road in Middletown, is alleged in a grand jury indictment handed up Monday to have been under the influence of liquor or drugs when a Boston Whaler he was piloting plowed into a vessel near buoy 20, between Middletown and Fair Haven, on July 23, 2011.
Christopher Plante, 50, of Keansburg, was killed in the crash.
Officials have not yet released details, but a relative of the victim said he was a 34-year-old man who did not live in town. (Click to enlarge)
Middletown Twp. Police report they are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash which occurred at State Highway 36 Southbound and Wilson Avenue at 8:06 PM., causing a portion of the highway to be closed for about two hours.
Police report a 31 year old female from the Port Monmouth section of Middletown was struck and killed while crossing the intersection with another pedestrian. Police report the vehicle that struck her was operated by a 24 year old male from Long Branch.
A 22-year-old Ocean County man was sentenced to seven years in state prison for killing a Middletown father of five in a 2011 Parkway accident, Monmouth County Prosecutor Peter Warshaw announced Friday.
Eric Periera, of Jackson Township, must serve close to six years of that term before becoming eligible for parole after he pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and other charges in connection with the April, 2011 crash.
Kevin Donnelly, a 43-year-old copy editor at the Staten Island Advance, died in the crash, which occurred when a car driven by Pereira struck the rear of Donnellys minivan around 11 p.m. in the southbound local lanes near mile marker 120.

A woman rescued from a fire at her Red Bank home on Sunday has died of her injuries, Mayor Pasquale Menna tells redbankgreen.
Phyllis Rudrow, 64, died Wednesday afternoon at the Burn Center at St. Barnabas in Livingston, he said.

George Harrington, 39, of Atlantic Highlands, was “operating at a fairly high rate of speed” at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when his 20-foot Boston Whaler, carrying five passengers, hit a Stingray operated by Christopher Plante in the area of Buoy 20 in the Middletown section of the river, State Police Sergeant Stephen Jones tells redbankgreen.
Harrington’s boat “rode over the stern of Plante’s vessel,” Jones said.
