Video of Sunday’s one-car fatal crash on Navensink River Road in Middletown shows the vehicle ablaze in a driveway. Police said the driver, who was traveling alone, struck a fire hydrant before smashing into a stone gatepost at about 3:18 a.m.

Authorities expect to positively identify the victim following an autopsy Monday, said MTPD spokesman Detective Lieutenant Steve Dollinger.

[Update, November 11, 2014: Middletown police identified the victim as Walter Burke, 43 from the Hillside section of the township.]
