AUTHORITIES_MTOWN2-2014One person died in a single-vehicle crash on Navesink River Road in Middletown early Sunday morning, police said.

The vehicle caught fire in the accident, which occurred at about 3:18 a.m. along the 700 block of the road, said Detective Lieutenant Stephen Dollinger, spokesman for the township police department.

Google Maps shows that as a stretch of the road between Club Way and McLee’s Road.

The identity of the driver was not released because authorities hadn’t yet notified next-of-kin, Dollinger told redbankgreen.

There were no passengers in the vehicle, he said.

The department’s traffic safety bureau is investigating.
