Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”
Last week’s “Where” photo was the former New Jersey Bell (now Verizon) building at 183 Broad Street. The building opened in 1965 as a telephone switching station. A November 1965 photo and caption in the Red Bank Register described an open house event during which members of the community could come in and tour the switching station.
The property is still used by Verizon, with the building assessed at $4.7 million.
The zoomed in photo of the corner fooled quite a few people who incorrectly guessed other brick-facade buildings throughout town. Incorrect guesses included River Street Commons (a former school converted to apartments), Wesleyan Arms (a senior citizen housing building at 9 Wall Street) and Riverview Medical Center.
