Best to avoid driving down Harrison Avenue Thursday if you can.
The road will be the site of construction work between River Road and Beckman Place with possible traffic detours in place, Red Bank officials announced in an alert sent to residents Tuesday afternoon. Parking restrictions will also be in place in construction zones from 7 am to 5 pm.
In October, the borough painted new bike lanes on the roadway in anticipation of including them in a more permanent form once this latest project is complete.

The road work slated to begin Wednesday is part of the roadway improvements funded by a $356,570 state grant awarded to the Borough of Red Bank in 2023. Officials earlier described the project as including upgrades to pavement, handicap-accessible ramps, curbing, and utility work.
