Spruce Liquors is looking to really spruce things up.
The Shrewsbury Avenue liquor store will go before the Zoning Board of Adjustment Thursday seeking approvals to move to a larger location inside a former auto mechanic shop across the street.
As reported by redbankgreen’s Retail Churn last month, the owners of Spruce Liquors at 205 Shrewsbury Avenue hope to move to the former home of Green’s Auto Performance Center at 204 Shrewsbury Avenue.
The Zoning Board agenda states that owner Samarth RB LLC “is proposing to rehabilitate and adapt the existing building to convert it into a liquor store, relocating their existing business from across the street to this site.”
It continues, “The applicant anticipates that the proposed business will operate in a similar manner as their existing business with approximately 2 to 3 employees working 9 AM to 10 PM Monday to Sunday.”
Plans submitted to the borough show the new shop would have 3,700 square feet of retail space. The current shop has about 1,300 square feet, according to real estate listings.
The owner of the building at 204 Shrewsbury Avenue is listed as Steven Goodman. There has been a sign in the window advertising the space for lease since the mechanics moved out.
Also on Thursday’s zoning board agenda is an application by the Parker Family Health Clinic on Shrewsbury Avenue, which is seeking approvals for two new signs.
The meeting begins at 6:30 pm at Borough Hall, 90 Monmouth Street. The meeting can also be attended remotely via Zoom.
