redbankgreen Partyline contributor Anthony Setaro saw the post we wrote in our holiday gift guide last week about a painting of a cigarette-smoking kid for sale at the Antique Center of Red Bank and came up with this gem of a photo of the real thing shot in Red Bank during the same era.
Setaro wrote:
“You want a picture of kids with cigarettes in their mouths? Here is my grandfather age 3, uncle Domenic, 8, alongside two of my great grandfathers out front of the original Setaro House, which operated as a safe house for early Italian American travelers and bootleggers. The house was next to the West End Hotel (Brother’s) and directly behind the passenger and freight depot of the Central Railroad.”
